Health and Human Services Facet (HHS)
The Health and Human Services (HHS) facet was developed in response to the chronic health disparities that persist in black communities and result in the decreased life expectancy of African Americans and other people of African ancestry. The goal of HHS is to promote and facilitate programs that support the maintenance of good health and the elimination of chronic health disparities in communities of color through education, health advocacy, and optimal utilization of health resources.
In collaboration with our community partner, We Belong, the Middlesex Chapter of the Links, Incorporated delivers interactive workshops with adolescents of color promoting mental health and emotional preparedness for life's challenges and the transition to college. These skills are especially relevant in light of the international public health crisis.
By educating and engaging our own members through a series of competitive and fun challenges (including steps, hydration and nutrition),we aim to model the healthy behaviors we wish to promote throughout our community.
