As SSP's program year comes to a close, so does my term as President of Society for Scholarly Publishing.

When I began my term, I described myself as SSP's "wartime president," reflecting the uncertainty facing scholarly communications. What I could not fully anticipate was just how resilient this community would prove to be.

As I shared during my remarks at the Annual Meeting, over the past year I witnessed the SSP community lean in rather than pull back. We supported one another, invested in the future of our profession, and demonstrated the strength of our community time and again.

I am deeply grateful to everyone who makes this organization so special, especially our volunteers, the Board of Directors, committee chairs, mentors, fellows, sponsors, and the extraordinary SSP staff. A special thank you to Melanie Dolechek for her steady leadership, wisdom, and dedication to this community.

SSP has played an instrumental role in my own professional journey, and serving as President during such a consequential year has been one of the greatest honors of my career.
